Technical Requirements

You will need a computer with an internet connection and a standards-compliant web browser, or Microsoft Internet Explorer version 7.

 

Browsers

We are working towards supporting as many browsers as is economical as and when they become compliant with the latest W3C standards. The first browser to meet this requirement will probably be Opera version 9.5, followed by Internet Explorer version 8.

Internet Explorer version 7 is not standards compliant, but since more than 80% of our SDS Catalyst users have access to it, we decided to support it anyway.

 

Displays

SDS Catalyst uses complicated web-forms. The larger your screen, the better. The designers assumed that most business users today have displays capable of showing 24 million colours in 1280 x 1024 resolution. If your display shows 1024 x 768 or less, you may find that you need to use the scroll bars a lot to move around the forms. If your display shows only 256 colours then there may be some visibility issues (foreground text will he difficult to distinguish from background shading, for example).

 

Scripts

SDS Catalyst uses AJAX (asynchronous Javascript and XML) to create rich user experiences. You therefore need to enable Javascipt in your browser.
