Training in SDS Sequel can be tailored to suit the organisation. Training can be provided on-site (recommended for new customers) or at a SDS training suite. Training is paid at the time the supply is made.
There are four basic courses. End Users training will need to be repeated where there are more than 6 delegates.
Courses are offered in three packages.
A projector, screen and flipchart will be required. The trainer will bring their own laptop. Customers should ensure that delegates can access the application from the training room beforehand.
This is a two day hands-on course.
Implementation
Test the installation, perform basic tests and review the IT arrangements for the end-user training.
Administrator Training & System Settings
This part of the course is aimed at those people who are responsible for setting defaults,
administering the system and/or training others in the team. Typically, these will be senior
people from development and finance teams such as managers, development coordinators, programme
managers and those from finance who deal with coding of development schemes and other related
financial issues. A member from the finance team will be required to manage importing financial
data from the finance system. If your organisation is split over more than one geographic location
it is a good idea to have at least one system administrator in each location.
This course covers a wide range of topics, such as: setting up new users; creating finance codes; managing security and access; workflow; suppliers; property; and running reports.
This is a one day hands-on course and is split into two half day sessions: Cashflow and Workflow. We recommend having a System Administrator sit in on this course.
The Cashflow session covers creating projects, setting up and managing cashflows, importing appraisals and running reports. The Workflow session covers creating and managing workflows, monitoring suppliers and contractors, creating property records and running reports.
This is a half day hands-on course and provides training on additional detail and offers the opportunity to refresh aspects from the previous training. It should be taken 2 to 3 months after the End Users training. It is assumed that delegates will have had some previous training and/or experience with Sequel. It concentrates on promoting best practice and will consolidate knowledge and understanding of the system. This course can be attended by anyone who wishes to refresh their knowledge of Sequel.
This is a half day review taken typically 6 - 12 months after the initial training. We review those areas where Sequel is working well and identify where improvements could be made. We offer help and advice on best practice and suggestions as to how your processes, policies and procedures as they relate to Sequel may be improved. We also seek your feedback on future updates.
SDS Sequel is supplied with a separate report designer application. This application makes it possible for end users to write their own bespoke reports. Introduction to Report Writing is a one day, hands - course, to train users in writing their own simple reports.
The course is aimed at people who have never written a report before and covers the basics of databases, principles of report design, and understanding how to get specific report requirements from those requesting reports. SDS can also tailor more advanced report writing courses to suit your requirements.
We hold open training courses throughout the year at our training suite in Guildford, Surrey and also from time to time at other locations. We can accommodate up to 6 people. Details of open training courses are available on our website.
