Course Information

This half-day course is designed to introduce delegates to the residual land appraisal concepts and functionality of the SDS Landval program.

Delegates will be able to understand how to use residual land valuation techniques to ascertain land values and learn how to optimize the dwelling mix to gain greater competitiveness.

Residual profit calculations are also covered, as well as handling Section 106 social housing situations.

Pre-requisites

Those attending this course should have a reasonable understanding of development in the private sector and of the appraisal process.  No prior experience of SDS Landval is required.

Course Objectives

By the end of the course delegates will be able to:

  • Create a land appraisal
  • Optimise scheme mix to maximise land value
  • Understand the key terminology and concepts in residual land valuation
  • Understand how to interpret the results of the appraisal
  • How to handle social housing requirements
  • Use the Sensitivity Analysis to find land values which meet required viability criteria and to see the impact of changes when other key variables change.
