SDS Report Designer

Course Information

This one-day course is designed to introduce delegates to the Report Designer application, as well providing an understanding of the structure of a database and the reasons for using a database, and the principles of report design.

Delegates will learn how to construct the data source and create the design for a basic report. The emphasis will be on report design, as well as understanding how to respond to requests for reports from colleagues.

Pre-requisites

Those attending this course should have an understanding of the SDS Sequel environment.

Course Objectives

By the end of the course delegates will be able to:

  • Understand and explain the structure of a relational database
  • Create basic queries
  • Explore different types of relationships between tables
  • Filter queries to customise the results
  • Understand how to group fields in a report
  • Produce hierarchical reports with grouping
  • Understand how to style and format the report
  • Understand how to use calculated fields
  • Export the report in different formats, e.g. Excel
